On them is the Vīṅka of Vasiṣṭha, a surpassing. Indeed, at this point an anuṣṭubh surpasses an anuṣṭubh. Being an anuṣṭubh, it amounts to thirty-three syllables; thereby it surpasses. Vasiṣṭha, when he was vanquished and his sons killed, desired: 'May I pervade these worlds; may I extend far with offspring and cattle!' He saw this sāman. With it he praised. By it, shouting 'vī vī', he pervaded these worlds; he extends far with offspring and cattle. It is a heaven-procuring, procreative sāman. He pervades these worlds, he extends far with offspring and cattle, who knows thus. And it is unjostled by a stobha. From what is unjostled, offspring and cattle are born. The chandomas are cattle; thereby it is rich in proper form. Because Vasiṣṭha saw it, it is named the Vīṅka of Vasiṣṭha. It is an Iḷā-bearing sāman for the acchāvāka priest. Iḷā is cattle; they firmly establish themselves in cattle.
