In that the hymn serves as the corresponding verse (anurūpa), they thereby make cattle correspond to cattle. Here they do not make them directly correspond. Therefore cattle give birth to varied forms: a white one gives birth to a black, and a black to a white; a red one gives birth to a spotted, and a spotted to a red. In these [verses], they have the same beginning but different conclusions: "This god, immortal..." [RV 9.28.1], "This god, made by poetic inspiration..." [RV 9.28.2], "This god, with praising singers..." [RV 9.28.3]. This is the first world (pada), this the second, that the third. In this regard they say: "Those who sacrifice with the twelve-day rite surely depart from this world, for they go, as it were, to an end." Because these have the same beginning and different conclusions, they firmly establish themselves in this very world. On the sixth day, they have different beginnings and the same conclusion: through those they firmly establish themselves in that world.
