"Of the purifying one, slaying..." [RV 9.61.20]—this is the form of the Bṛhat; "brilliant with golden hues..." [RV 9.61.21]—this is for the Jagatī. "The purifying one, the best charioteer, with splendid paths, most splendidly praised, brilliant with golden hues, accompanied by the Marut-troop" [RV 9.61.22]—thus they contain [the word] marutvat ("accompanied by the Maruts"). Belonging to the Maruts is the form of the midday pressing; they do not depart from the form of the midday pressing. "O purifying one, reach forth..." [RV 9.61.23]—thus they approach the form of the All-Gods, for this day belongs to the All-Gods. These [verses] contain forms of the root han- ("to slay"). The ninth day is the end: having reached the end, with these they strike away all evil.
