tadeva caturviṃśaṃ saptamamaharabhavadgāyatrī chandasām
tasmādatrobhe bṛhadrathantare kriyete
ubho hyetau bārhatarāthantarau stomau
rathantaraṃ vai mātrāyāmatra syād | atha bṛhatpṛṣṭhaṃ kriyate
saptadaśaṃ ca triṇavaṃ ca samāsyat
tadeva catuścaatvāriṃśamaṣṭamamaharabhavattriṣṭupchandasām
tasmādatra rathantaraṃ pṛṣṭhaṃ kriyate
ekaviṃśaṃ ca trayastriṃśaṃ ca samāsyat
tataṣṣaḍakṣarāṇyatyaricyanta
atha yānyaṣṭācatvāriṃśatparyaśiṣyanta tadeāṣṭācatvāriṃśaṃ navamamaharabhavat
jagatī chandasām
tasmādatra bṛhatpṛṣṭhaṃ kriyate
ubhau hyetau bārhatau stomau | rathantaraṃ vai mātrāyāmatra syād | atha bṛhatpṛṣṭhaṃ

He combined the threefold and the fifteenfold [stomas]. That became the twenty-fourfold seventh day, the Gāyatrī among the meters. Therefore, both the Bṛhat and the Rathantara are performed here, for both these stomas pertain to the Bṛhat and the Rathantara. The Rathantara would indeed be here according to measure; then the Bṛhat is made the pṛṣṭha. He combined the seventeenfold and the twenty-sevenfold [stomas]. That became the forty-fourfold eighth day, the Triṣṭubh among the meters. Therefore, the Rathantara is made the pṛṣṭha here. He combined the twenty-onefold and the thirty-threefold [stomas]. Then six syllables were left over. Now, those forty-eight which remained became the forty-eightfold ninth day, the Jagatī among the meters. Therefore, the Bṛhat is made the pṛṣṭha here, for both these stomas pertain to the Bṛhat. The Rathantara would indeed be here according to measure; then the Bṛhat is made the pṛṣṭha.
