tad etad ṛcābhyanūcyate
catvāri vāk parimitā padāni tāni vidur brāhmaṇā ye manīṣiṇaḥ
guhā trīṇi nihitā neṅgayanti turīyaṃ vāco manuṣyā vadantīti /
About this it is said in a ṛc:
'Speech has been measured into four quarters; the wise brāhmaṇas know them.
Three, hidden in secret, do not stir; the fourth [quarter] of speech human beings speak.'
