1.184

He desired: 'Having arisen, may I go forth; may I find a path, a protector.'
He saw this sāman.
With it, he praised.
He went to the finale: 'Together with the drops' (saṃ indubhiḥ).
Parjanya floated him upward with rain.
For he made that chariot wheel float up by which he was covered.
That is the sāman that finds a path and finds a protector.
He indeed found a path, that protector.
He who knows thus finds a path.
He followed by footstep.
Seeing him coming, the one became a bear and the other a monkey, and they fled into the forest.
And that is the sāman that slays rivals.
Indeed, those two who became a bear and a monkey entered into rivalry with him.
Moreover, Parjanya becomes rainy for him.
And that is a sāman conferring cattle.
He indeed took those cattle solely for himself.
He secures cattle; he becomes rich in cattle, who knows thus.
And because Trita Āptya saw it, therefore it is called the Traita.
