Regarding this they say: If, while this performer of a long sacrificial session is offering the fire-offering, the fire-offering cow being milked should sit down, what is the action in that case? What is the expiation? And on that point some make her stand up with a sacrificial formula. She indeed sits down perceiving the misfortune, the evil, of the sacrificer whose fire-offering cow sits down while being milked. They make her stand up [with]: 'The goddess Aditi has arisen.' This [earth] is indeed the goddess Aditi. It is her they make stand up for him. 'She has placed life in the master of the sacrifice' — with this, they place life in him. 'And in Mitra and Varuṇa' — out-breath and in-breath are indeed Mitra and Varuṇa; they place out-breath and in-breath in him. When that oblation is offered, they give her to a Brahmin whom they will not visit for a year, saying: 'We deposit the misfortune, the evil, in him.'
