And regarding this Āruṇi said: The fire-offering cow is indeed heaven; her calf is Āditya. This [earth] is the fire-offering pot. The calf of the fire-offering cow of one who knows thus is never lost. Where indeed could this one be lost? Nor does the fire-offering milk spill while being milked for one who knows thus; for it is established upon this [earth] in this manner. Nor does the fire-offering cow sit down while being milked for one who knows thus. When she rains abundantly, they indeed say of her: 'She has rained as if sitting down!' Moreover, they say: If she should yield blood, what is the procedure there? What is the expiation? Seeing the distress, the evil of the sacrificer, she yields [blood] who yields blood. Having said, 'It steps apart,' he should tell [them] to cover the southern kitchen fire (anvāhāryapacana). Setting it over that, making a stirring-stick, he should cook it. He should pour it out quietly, item by item. Prajāpati is indeed unexpressed; the fire-offering belongs to Prajāpati. Or [he offers it] with these mystical utterances: 'bhūḥ, bhuvaḥ, svaḥ.' These mystical utterances are indeed all-expiations. Thus with all this he performs the expiation. Moreover they say:
1.60.p1
'If the fires should go out, what is the procedure there? What is the expiation?'
1.60.p2
Some churn it out from a firebrand itself,
1.60.p3
saying: 'From where it is lost to a man at the end, from there indeed he seeks the expiation for it.'
1.60.p4
saying [so].
1.60.p5
One should not consider it so.
1.60.p6
For having taken a firebrand from there, he would proceed, or a chip of the firebrand.
1.60.p7
He should do it thus:
1.60.p8
having snapped it off from the firebrand, he should churn it against the two kindling-sticks.
1.60.p9
He obtains that wish who churns from a firebrand, and he [obtains that wish] who [churns] from the two kindling-sticks.
1.60.p10
Moreover they say: 'If the Āhavanīya fire, having been taken out, should go out, what is the procedure there? What is the expiation?'
1.60.p11
This [Āhavanīya] is not extinguished as long as the Gārhapatya does not go out.
1.60.p12
Even if it should go out many times, he should simply take it out again and again.
1.60.p13
Just this is the procedure here.
1.60.p14
Moreover they say: 'If, when the Āhavanīya has been taken out, the Gārhapatya should go out, what is the procedure there?
1.60.p15
What is the expiation?'
1.60.p16
Some take it out toward the east from that very place.
1.60.p17
One should not do it thus.
1.60.p18
If someone were to say there: 'He has torn away the forward breaths of this sacrificer; this sacrificer will die,'
1.60.p19
it would indeed be so.
1.60.p20
Some bring it westward from that very place,
1.60.p21
saying: 'The Gārhapatya is the out-breath; the Āhavanīya is the in-breath.
1.60.p22
These two, out-breath and in-breath, agreeing together, eat food.'
1.60.p23
Moreover, the Gārhapatya is the house;
1.60.p24
houses are a firm foundation.
1.60.p25
If someone were to say of him there: 'He has departed from this firm foundation; this sacrificer will die,'
