1.69

From the belly, from the middle, he created the seventeen-part stoma, the jagatī meter, the Vāmadevya sāman, the All-Gods as deity, the Vaiśya among men, the cow among cattle.
Therefore the Vaiśya has the jagatī meter, has the All-Gods as deity.
And therefore he is prolific;
for he created him from the belly, from the place of procreation.
He desired: 'May I propagate further.'
From the feet, from the firm foundation, he created the twenty-one-part stoma, the anuṣṭubh meter, the Yajñāyajñīya sāman, no deity, the Śūdra among men, the sheep among cattle.
Therefore the Śūdra has the anuṣṭubh meter, has the master of the house as deity.
And therefore he seeks to live by the washing of feet alone;
for he created him from the feet, from the firm foundation.
By this creation, indeed, Prajāpati created creatures.
Whoever knows this thus attains abundance through offspring and cattle.
Therefore they praise this sacrifice, namely the Agniṣṭoma, above all;
for it is Prajāpati's sacrifice.
