They seized their breath with the Gāyatrī, [their] eye with the Triṣṭubh, [their] ear with the Jagatī, [their] speech with the Anuṣṭubh.
They excluded them from this world with the Gāyatrī, from the intermediate space with the Triṣṭubh, from that [world] with the Jagatī, from cattle with the Anuṣṭubh.
They excluded them from everything.
Then indeed the gods flourished; the Asuras were defeated.
He flourishes in himself, [and] his hateful rival is defeated, who knows thus.
In that the gods injured the Asuras, that is the injuring nature of the Dhūrs.
He injures his hateful rival, who knows thus.
When Prajāpati created creatures, he created them by means of the Dhūrs alone.
He poured seed by means of the retasyā [verse]; he stimulated breath with the Gāyatrī, eye with the Triṣṭubh, ear with the Jagatī, speech with the Anuṣṭubh.
He applied the self with the Paṅkti.
Becoming Prajāpati himself, he creates creatures, who, knowing thus, sings the Dhūrs as Udgātṛ.
