2-3.127
The svara itself is that conclusion. It consists of seven feet. Seven, indeed, are the meters. The aticchandas meter overcomes all meters; thus all meters are attained for him. Regarding this, they say: 'The Vāmadevya [sāman] should be made with five conclusions. The Ārbhava-pavamāna has five meters and seven sāmans. When there are five conclusions, thereby it extends over the meters; and when it has seven feet, thereby it extends over the sāmans.' But regarding this they also say: 'The Gāyatrapārśva alone should be made. The svara itself is that conclusion. The self is the svara; the offspring is the conclusion. That alone is more abundant, namely the Gāyatrapārśva. Therefore the Gāyatrapārśva alone should be made.' Those verses amount to twenty-four strophic verses. The year has twenty-four half-months. The year is generation. [He thinks:] 'May he who is generation generate me.'
