Now, since the third pressing, which belongs to the Jagatī, is performed on [verses] addressed to Indra, he thereby stripped away the sacrifice of the Ādityas and of the All-Gods.
Deprived of the sacrifice, they approached him: 'Let us be your subjects; give us a share in the sacrifice!'—just as wives approach a husband, so did they.
He assigned a share to the Vasus in the morning pressing, to the Rudras in the midday pressing, and to the Ādityas and the All-Gods in the third pressing.
Just as a king, having conquered, might assign shares to his wives in his own property, even so did he then assign shares to them.
Therefore they address Indra: 'Accompanied by the Vasus, accompanied by the Rudras, accompanied by the Ādityas, accompanied by the All-Gods.'
It is fifteen-fold.
The fifteen-fold [stoma] is indeed a thunderbolt.
Indra is the thunderbolt.
This sacrifice belongs to Indra; therefore it is made corresponding to its characteristic.
It is an Ukthya.
The ukthas are indeed the people.
They thereby raise royal power above the people.
Therefore the kṣatriya is raised above the people.
Whoever should desire prosperity, let him sacrifice with this.
Royal power is prosperity; this is a sacrifice of royal power; he attains prosperity.
2-3.140.p1
