He speaks speech endowed with the far-seeing. Food is indeed the far-seeing, for by food these creatures see clearly. Then he provides food for these creatures. When [the priest] offers him the fast-milk, he should consume it all, to obtain all food. If he should leave any over, he should say to the one who brought the fast-milk: 'Eat or drink [it].' But if the one who brought the fast-milk does not eat leftovers or if he leaves any over, having sprinkled it with water, he should tell him to pour it out in the shade. He should tell him to cover it with plants. Thereby he moistens the roots of the plants. Rain-bringing does Parjanya become wherever one who knows thus is consecrated. 'The consecrated ones have withered the water,' they say here. When the consecratory offering is concluded, when the Adhvaryu has anointed him, when he has purified him, then he should revere this sun: 'You are a consecrated deity. Consecrated, you take away the faculty, primacy, preeminence, and fame of the one being consecrated. Do not take away my faculty, primacy, preeminence, and fame. Following your consecration, I am consecrated.' This deity does not take away the faculty, primacy, preeminence, and fame of him who is being consecrated.
