2-3.90

having placed [it] upon the enclosure with the threefold stoma, they struck [it] with the fifteenfold thunderbolt.
And they also say: this threefold stoma is Fire itself;
this fifteenfold is the thunderbolt.
Just as, having scorched a rock with fire, one would shatter it with a mallet, even so by this, having scorched the enclosure with the threefold stoma as fire, they struck [it] with the fifteenfold thunderbolt.
Those [cows] remained inside, finding no way out.
They urged them out with the Utsedha [sāman].
Then this Udbhid consists of the sevenfold and seventeenfold [stomas].
There, those which are seven are the sevenfold cattle; then that which is seventeen is Prajāpati himself, who is seventeenfold.
Seeing their father Prajāpati, they came up rejoicing.
Having come up, they scattered into the wide [space].
The gods feared their running away.
Having driven them up with the Utsedha and restrained them with the Niṣedha, they held them in themselves.
He who desires cattle should sacrifice with these two.
With the Valabhid he breaks open the enclosure; with the Udbhid he sends forth the cows.
Having driven them up with the Utsedha and restrained them with the Niṣedha, he holds them in himself; he secures cattle; he becomes rich in cattle.
