For this meter is as if complete, and what the Virāj is, is as if full procreation;
and what the Anuṣṭubh is, is the end of the meters.
On this, however, they say: 'This sacrifice is indeed for both: for one who has prospered and for one wishing to prosper.'
Its stomas are these: nine-verse, fifteen-verse, seventeen-verse, twenty-one-verse—deficient and redundant, pairs,
procreative.
Deficient is one, redundant is the other.
From a deficient and redundant pair, offspring and cattle are produced.
The nine-verse and the fifteen-verse: that is a pair, procreation.
The seventeen-verse and the twenty-one-verse: that is a pair, procreation.
[Thinking:] 'May that which is a pair, procreation, cause me to procreate.'
Further, in that both the Bṛhat and Rathantara sāmans are [used], this is indeed a divine procreative pair, that both
are the Bṛhat and Rathantara. [Thinking:] 'May that which is a divine pair, procreation, cause me to procreate.'
Having struck off [all obstacles] by this, [it is] most procreative, in that it corresponds to the Virāj.
The Virāj is food.
From what is eaten, semen is emitted.
From semen, offspring are procreated.
Moreover, in that it corresponds to the Anuṣṭubh: Prajāpati is connected with the Anuṣṭubh; Prajāpati is procreation. [Thinking:] 'May he who
is procreation cause me to procreate.'
