Cattle are the Jagatī. / Whatever is small among cattle belongs to the Jagatī. / Precisely that he obtains by this. / The pṛṣṭhas have sixteen [verses]. / Cattle indeed consist of sixteen parts, both those which we know and those which we do not. / Precisely those he obtains part by part with this. / The Ārbhava Pavamāna has twenty [verses]. / These two Virājs of ten each are what the twenty is. / Cattle, having twenty foundations, belong to the Virāj. / Those cattle that have twenty foundations and belong to the Virāj, precisely those he obtains by this. / Then the Agniṣṭoma-sāman has twenty-four [verses]. / Cattle, having four feet, belong to the Virāj. / Those cattle that are four-footed and belong to the Virāj, precisely those he obtains by this. / Moreover, the year consists of twenty-four half-months. / By means of the year, having seized them, he placed them in himself. / Now this [sacrifice] is neither truly an Agniṣṭoma nor an Ukthya; it is, as it were, both. / Nor are these [cattle] exclusively domestic nor wild; they are, as it were, both. / Precisely those he obtains by this.
