Now the [verses] impelled by Savitṛ:
[saying,] 'If we have here approached these multiform opening verses in varied manner, may that be impelled for us by Savitṛ.'
Now the verses addressed to Agni Pavamāna:
They say that those who begin with verses containing pavamāna go as if upon a path.
Agni is indeed the path-maker of the gods.
With whatever Agni he goes, he goes making a path.
In that this opening verse is addressed to Agni Pavamāna, they set out upon the path with Agni the path-maker.
'Of the purifying one, for you, O wise one' is the concluding verse.
They set out again upon this path.
He who knows the yoke-bearer among the pṛṣṭhas becomes a yoke-bearer among his own [people].
The Vairāja is indeed the yoke-bearer of the pṛṣṭhas.
He becomes a yoke-bearer among his own [people] who knows thus.
