2-5.191
Moreover, just as one would fasten a chariot wheel to the chariot axle, so bringing all these works of art, they establish them in the brahman, those who make the Bṛhat the Agniṣṭoma-sāman on Gāyatrī verses. Therefore, the Bṛhat should be made the Agniṣṭoma-sāman on Gāyatrī verses. Regarding this they say: 'He should give a thousand; that is the all.' And they also say: 'As many as are the verses for chanting of this Viśvajit, just that much he should give; that is the all.' And they also say: 'Whatever property he has, he should give that. What he leaves over is evil.' Just as [seed] flows from him through union, so from that all, evil flows away from him if he leaves [anything] over. Therefore, everything should be given.
