'How shall I arrange it for you? So that one prospers in this world, or so that in yonder world?' 'So that in this world,' he said. He said: 'Does he indeed ask for a sacrifice who does not know this sacrifice along with the horse?' 'How then?' [Keśin asked]. 'For the sacrifice is for yonder world, not for this one.' 'Not so,' he said. 'Khaṇḍika Audbhāri has indeed overcome me. Arrange it for me so that I may overcome him.' The twenty-four-fold is the brahman, the forty-four-fold is the kṣatra, the forty-eight-fold is the people (viś). The year indeed is all the stomas. Having grasped this threefold people by means of these two rites containing all the stomas, he established it within himself; he attained its prosperity.
