2-8.289

Now comes this Gliding-rite of Vasiṣṭha. Vasiṣṭha desired: 'May I glide through these worlds!' He saw this four-day sacrifice; he took it; he sacrificed with it. Then he glided through these worlds. Because he glided through these worlds, that is the gliding-nature of the Gliding-rite. He glides through these worlds, who knows thus. Three stomas of it, yoked, carry the day. Three by three of the yoked are best at carrying. By that which is yoked he goes to wherever he wishes to go. And they say: 'One desiring offspring should sacrifice with this.' A stoma is connected with a stoma in this rite. From a connected pair offspring and cattle are born, for the sake of procreation. Abandoning a stoma day by day they proceed; day by day they take up a stoma.
