Now this is the ten-day rite of Kusurvinda. It has three trivṛt Agniṣṭomas, three fifteen-fold Ukthyas, three seventeen-fold Ukthyas, and a Jyotir Atirātra. If one should desire, ‘May I be brilliant, endowed with spiritual luster, vigorous, endowed with vital power, an eater of food, firmly established,’ he should sacrifice with this. The trivṛt stoma is brilliance and spiritual luster, the fifteen-fold is vigor and vital power, the seventeen-fold is food, and the Jyotir Atirātra is firm establishment. Through this he fulfills those desires which are in this [rite]. Hence, it is celebrated in the Jyotiṣṭoma Atirātra: ‘May I fulfill that desire which is the ten-day rite.’ About this, two Brahmins who had crept in [to the sadas] conversed together: ‘To what sacrificial rite have we two crept, my friend?’ One of the two said: ‘If tomorrow is to be just like today, then these are Agniṣṭomas; ten days indeed we shall sit by you.’ The two considered it an Agniṣṭoma alone, for the stomas of the Agniṣṭoma are indeed these. Now this [rite is] a spade sharp on both sides:

its trivṛt Agniṣṭoma is in front, a trivṛt Agniṣṭoma is at the end, and eight Ukthyas

are seventeen-fold in the middle.

One who desires food should sacrifice with this.
