He desired: 'May I reproduce!'
From this very Vaiśvānara introductory Atirātra he fashioned a three-day rite: from the Agniṣṭoma he fashioned the light, from the Ukthyas the cow, from the night the life span.
From that three-day rite he brought forth the three seasons; he was established upon the three seasons.
Therefore, that this three-day rite takes place, from this they bring forth three seasons, they are established upon the three seasons.
He desired: 'May I reproduce!'
He pushed this very six-day period forward from behind.
They became two six-day periods.
From those two six-day periods he brought forth the twelve months; he was established upon the twelve months.
Therefore, that these two six-day periods take place, from them they bring forth the twelve months, they are established upon the twelve months.
He desired: 'May I reproduce!'
He pushed these very two six-day periods forward from behind.
They became four six-day periods.
From those four six-day periods he brought forth the twenty-four half-months; he was established upon the twenty-four half-months.
Therefore, that these four six-day periods take place, from them they bring forth the twenty-four half-months, they are established upon the twenty-four half-months.
