2-8.391

Therefore, two wings are set upon the self.
Regarding this they say: 'Surely they fall away from this world who undertake these forward six-day periods, forward stomas, forward pṛṣṭhas, and forward meters.'
When they undertake the returning six-day periods beyond the viṣuvant day, they firmly establish themselves in this very world.
'Today, today, tomorrow, tomorrow, we [approach] him,' 'Now, yesterday, you, now, yesterday, O men,' 'Whither have you gone? Whither are you?', 'Indra, three-layered refuge'—[these] are connecting pragāthas for the continuity of today and tomorrow.
They connect today and tomorrow.
And they sit through an unexhausted year.
Regarding this they say: 'Indra, bring us discernment,' with this much, one should praise according to the form of the day,
'as a father to his sons; / grant us help, O much-invoked one, on this journey; may we, living, attain the light.'
Indeed, they attain the light alive who reach the completion of the year.
'Let not unknown, malevolent strongholds tread us down, nor unpropitious ones; / through you, O hero, may we cross over the everlasting rushing waters.'
These everlasting rushing waters are the year, the seasons, the months, the fortnights, the days and nights, the dawns.
By this, they cross over them.
