2.265
If [the Kṣatriya] wishes to take it, he wishes to offer it to him.
Moreover, it belongs to him alone,
for he causes him to share in his own [property].
Now, when he sings the Jagatī—the Jagatī is the peasantry—it is the Vaiśya that he causes to share in the Brahmin's own [property].
If [the Vaiśya] wishes to take it, he wishes to offer it to him.
Moreover, it belongs to him alone,
for he causes him to share in his own [property].
To that very [rite] the Anuṣṭubh is appended.
Now, when he sings the Anuṣṭubh—the Śūdra belongs to the Anuṣṭubh—it is the Śūdra that he causes to share in the Brahmin's own [property].
If [the Śūdra] wishes to take it, he wishes to offer it to him.
Moreover, it belongs to him alone,
for he causes him to share in his own [property].
If not openly, then he seeks to acquire it simply through cooking.
'Therefore they are not to be sung variously,' [they say].
Indeed, from where these [yokes] are sung variously in this world, from that are Brahmins defeated here.
Now, when they did not sing them variously, the Brahmins were undefeated.

sets aside the exclusive portion.
2.265.p5
That exclusive portion of brahman is set aside for him.
2.265.p6
Now, when, though the midday pressing is in the Triṣṭubh, he proceeds with it in the Gāyatrī alone, the Brahmin
2.265.p7
he causes to share in the Kṣatriya's own [property].
2.265.p8
He wishes to give to him through faith, through work, through service.
2.265.p9
Indeed, when faith finds a Kṣatriya, then indeed he desires a Brahmin.
2.265.p10
