The Triṣṭubh is the primacy of the midday pressing. So, whatever other meter is used there, it is designated as Triṣṭubh. The Jagatī is the primacy of the third pressing. So, whatever other meter is used there, it is designated as Jagatī. This indeed is the primacy of the soma pressings. He who thus knows this primacy of the soma pressings attains primacy and does not fall from primacy. He who knows the houses of the gods becomes a householder and finds houses. The meters indeed are the houses of the gods. The Gāyatrī has eight syllables; there are eight Vasus: through the Gāyatrī the Vasus are householders. The Triṣṭubh has eleven syllables; there are eleven Rudras: through the Triṣṭubh the Rudras are householders. The Jagatī has twelve syllables; there are twelve Ādityas: through the Jagatī the Ādityas are householders. Through the Anuṣṭubh the All-Gods [are householders]; through the soma pressings Indra and Agni [are householders]. He who thus knows these houses of the gods becomes a householder and finds houses. He who knows the satisfaction of the gods is satisfied in himself, and his offspring is satisfied.
