The purīṣas are six. Cattle are indeed iḷā; the purīṣa is a dwelling place. They establish these cattle right in their dwelling place. Placing water near, they praise for the wholeness of the sāman. This is indeed the complete form of the Mahānāmnīs: water. They should stir them for the perfection of form. Regarding this they say: 'Where should one pour these?' This is their discussion: having poured [them] into the vasatīvarī waters and pressed the soma, they should drink. But their [drink] becomes as if stirred, exhausted; they pour exhausted [waters] into unexhausted ones. Moreover, they say: 'They should mix the sacrificial cakes of the third pressing with them.' The sacrificer is indeed the sacrificial cake; water is food. Thereby one unites the sacrificer with food. However, scabies is likely to afflict the sacrificer tomorrow in his later life, for they become as if scratching. Moreover, they say: 'One should pour it right into the pit (cātvāla).' The pit is indeed the womb of the sacrifice; water is seed; thus one deposits this seed right into the womb. His seed poured out is propagated immediately, who knows this.
