That became the twenty-fourfold tenth day, the Anuṣṭubh among the meters. Therefore, the sāman is made with three 'hiṃ' sounds. Regarding this they say: 'The stomas surpass the threefold [stoma]; the meters do not surpass the Gāyatrī.' One should not say that the stomas surpass the threefold [stoma], nor that the meters surpass the Gāyatrī. For the stomas have three introductory rites, three middle parts, and three concluding rites. And so, all the meters do not surpass the Gāyatrī. That is the fullness of the threefold stoma and of the Gāyatrī meter, namely this twelve-day rite. The Gāyatrī is indeed brahman; the threefold is kṣatra; in that it is a thunderbolt, thereby it is kṣatra. That is both brahman and kṣatra, namely this twelve-day rite. And regarding this they also say: 'The threefold is indeed brahman; the Gāyatrī is brahman; this twelve-day rite is brahman.' It should be understood that this entire twelve-day rite is indeed brahman. Regarding this are these two verses:
'Four, yoked, carry forward at the beginning; they become six in the highest heaven. / Having become two by two, they fly forth as wings; having gone, upon which one of these do they rest? / Two stomas clothe the Gāyatrī; two clothe the Triṣṭubh; two clothe the Jagatī. / Greater than these, it was left over from the six; having gone, they all rest upon that.'
