tadāhuḥ kiṃ candaḥ kā devatāgneḥ śira iti gāyatrī cando'gnirdevatā śiraḥ
As to this they say, 'What metre and what deity are the head of the fire-altar?' The metre Gâyatrî and the deity Agni are its head.
