trayodaśāratnim parivāsayet | trayodaśa vai māsāḥ saṃvatsarasya saṃvatsaro vajro vajro yūpastasmāttrayodaśāratnim parivāsayet
He may cut it thirteen cubits long, for thirteen months there are in a year, and the year is a thunderbolt, as the sacrificial stake is a thunderbolt: therefore he may cut it thirteen cubits long.
