virā́ḍ ágre sám abhavad virā́jo ádhi pū́ruṣaḥ |
sá jātó áty aricyata paścā́d bhū́mim átho puráḥ ||9||
Virāj in the beginning came into being (sam-bhū); out of Virāj, Purusha; it, when born, exceeded the earth behind, also in front.
