4.8.1
dū̱taṁ vo̍ vi̱śvave̍dasaṁ havya̱vāha̱m ama̍rtyam |
yaji̍ṣṭham ṛñjase gi̱rā ||
YOUR envoy who possesses all, Immortal, bearer of your gifts, Best worshipper, I woo with song.
4.8.2
sa hi vedā̱ vasu̍dhitim ma̱hām̐ ā̱rodha̍naṁ di̱vaḥ |
sa de̱vām̐ eha va̍kṣati ||
He, Mighty, knows the gift of wealth, he knows the deep recess of heaven: He shall bring hitherward the Gods.
4.8.3
sa ve̍da de̱va ā̱nama̍ṁ de̱vām̐ ṛ̍tāya̱te dame̍ |
dāti̍ pri̱yāṇi̍ ci̱d vasu̍ ||
He knows, a God himself, to guide Gods to the righteous in his home: He gives e'en treasures that we love.
4.8.4
sa hotā̱ sed u̍ dū̱tya̍ṁ ciki̱tvām̐ a̱ntar ī̍yate |
vi̱dvām̐ ā̱rodha̍naṁ di̱vaḥ ||
He is the Herald: well-informed, he doth his errand to and fro, Knowing the deep recess of heaven.
4.8.5
te syā̍ma̱ ye a̱gnaye̍ dadā̱śur ha̱vyadā̍tibhiḥ |
ya ī̱m puṣya̍nta indha̱te ||
May we be they who gratify Agni with sacrificial gifts, Whocherish and enkindle him.
4.8.6
te rā̱yā te su̱vīryai̍ḥ sasa̱vāṁso̱ vi śṛ̍ṇvire |
ye a̱gnā da̍dhi̱re duva̍ḥ ||
Illustrious for wealth are they, and hero deeds, victorious, Who have served Agni reverently.
4.8.7
a̱sme rāyo̍ di̱ve-di̍ve̱ saṁ ca̍rantu puru̱spṛha̍ḥ |
a̱sme vājā̍sa īratām ||
So unto us, day after day, may riches craved by many come, And power and might spring up for us.
4.8.8
sa vipra̍ś carṣaṇī̱nāṁ śava̍sā̱ mānu̍ṣāṇām |
ati̍ kṣi̱preva̍ vidhyati ||
That holy Singer in his strength shoots forth his arrows swifter than The swift shafts of the tribes of men.
