śaivokteṣu kāleṣu nadīṣu vā śuddhajalāśaye vā madhyamena ca palāśaparṇena vāṣṭasahasreṇāṣṭaśatena vāṣṭāviṃśatyā vā āpo hi ṣṭhā mayobhuva iti tisṛbhiḥ hiraṇyavarṇāḥ śucayaḥ pāvakā iti catasṛbhiḥ pavamānaḥ suvarjana ityetenānuvākenābhiṣecanaṃ kṛtvā gāyatryāṣṭasahasreṇābhiṣecanaṃ karoti \

At the times prescribed for Śiva, or in rivers, or in a reservoir of clean water, with the middle leaf of a palāśa tree, having performed an aspersion eight thousand, or one hundred and eight, or twenty-eight times with the three [verses], "For water is indeed conferring happiness...", with the four [verses], "Golden of hue, pure, purifying...", and with the section, "Pavamānaḥ suvarjanaḥ...", he performs the aspersion eight thousand times with the Gāyatrī,
