On a riverbank or in the shade of an aśvattha tree, having smeared a square sacrificial ground the size of a cowhide with cow dung, having established Brahman in the eastern quarter, and Dhātṛ and Vidhātṛ on the two flanks—Dhātṛ to the south and Vidhātṛ to the left, Dhātṛ black in color, Vidhātṛ white in color, [Brahman] four-faced and multi-colored—he should then worship them.
