In the eighth month, in the bright fortnight, under an auspicious constellation, on the twelfth or the seventh lunar day, under Rohiṇī or Śravaṇā, having served the Brahmins with food, having made them recite, "An auspicious day! Well-being! Prosperity!", then having performed [the rites] from the drawing of lines on the sacrificial site up to the carrying of the Praṇītā water, having stepped up in front of the fire, having invoked the deity with: "I invoke the deity; Om bhūḥ, I invoke the Puruṣa; Om bhuvaḥ, I invoke the Puruṣa; Om svaḥ, I invoke the Puruṣa; Om bhūrbhuvaḥsvaḥ, I invoke the Puruṣa!", having performed [the rites] from the laying of the enclosing sticks up to the face of the fire, having worshiped the deity, having sprinkled with the three [verses], "For water is indeed conferring happiness...", with the four [verses], "Golden of hue, pure, purifying...", and with this section, "Pavamānaḥ suvarjanaḥ...", he then offers water-libations with the words: "I offer water to Keśava, to Nārāyaṇa, to Mādhava, to Govinda, to Viṣṇu, to Madhusūdana, to Trivikrama, to Vāmana, to Śrīdhara, to Hṛṣīkeśa, to Padmanābha, to Dāmodara!"
