Wearing the sacred thread over the right shoulder, having set up the fire, having strewn around [it] with darbha grass whose tips point south-east, having placed four water-vessels upon them, having prepared sprinkling waters with a single strainer, having sprinkled the vessels, having placed one of them—the vessel for the deceased—to the south, having brought a vessel half-full of water, having purified it with the strainer, having scattered sesame seeds into it, and having placed it down upon darbha grass, he covers it with darbha grass.
