abhi tvā deva savitaḥ iti tisṛbhistrimadhurasya hutvā hiraṇmayyetarayā vā sūcyā āśrut karṇa iti dakṣiṇaṃ karṇaṃ vidhvā uta tvā badhiraṃ vayamiti savyam \6\

Having offered three oblations of the threefold sweet mixture with the three [verses], 'Towards you, god Savitṛ,' having pierced the right ear with a golden needle or another needle [with the words], 'Listening ear,' [he pierces] the left with, 'And you who are deaf, we...'
