Until the appearance of a limb of the bones: forty [palāśa leaf-stalks] for the bones of the head, ten on the neck, shoulder-blades on the two shoulders, one hundred for the two arms, ten with the fingers, thirty on the chest, twenty on the belly, six on the testicles, four on the penis, one hundred for the two thighs, thirty for the knees, shanks, and kneecaps, ten with the toes from the feet. Having thus brought three hundred and sixty leaf-stalks of the palāśa tree, having formed the shape of a man, having wrapped it with woolen threads, having smeared it all over with barley meal mixed with clarified butter, from the kindling onward [the rite] is the same.
