In the sixth month is the first feeding of solid food. The ancestral offering for prosperity is on the preceding day. On the following day, having bathed at dawn, the patron of the sacrifice cooks barley meal or rice boiled in milk. Whether [regular] rites [have been performed] or not, [with grain] husked into its natural state, the father and the mother, taking the boy and sitting down as at the birth-rite, shall feed him the rice boiled in milk at the beginning of the ceremony. Then the feeding of brahmins; then the feeding of brahmins.
