yāvān yajamāna ūrdhvabāhus tāvad antarāle veṇoś chidre karoti madhye tṛtīyam ||
As tall as the sacrificer is with arms raised upwards, at such an interval he makes [two] holes in the measuring bamboo cane, and a third in the middle. ||
