asatyopādhi yat satyaṃ tad vā śabdanibandhanām
śabdo vāpy abhijalpatvam āgato yāti vācyatām //
Or that which is real, having unreal limiting adjuncts, is grounded in word-sounds; / or the word-sound itself, having attained the state of verbal identification, becomes the expressed meaning.
