vākyeṣu arthāntaragataḥ sādṛśyaparikalpane
keṣāṃ cit rūḍhiśabdatvaṃ śāstra evānugamyate //
When a different meaning is arrived at in sentences, through the assumption of similarity, / the fact that some words are conventional is recognized only in the treatise [of grammar].
