Under "ṅyāpoḥ...": And this is established in Mādhava's work under the verbal root phala in the sense of producing (niṣpatti). In the Mahābhāṣya, however, it is mostly read with a long vowel only.
Under "pratyakpuṣpā": This is stated upon consideration of the Mahābhāṣya and vārttika on the sūtra "pākakarṇa..." (P. 4.1.64). Therefore, the reading satprākkāṇḍā should not be accepted.
Under "śūdrā ca": The word śūdra generates ṭāp if it is a natural class. But not when preceded by mahat. "If it is a natural class" is connected here as well.
Under "puṃyoge tu...": Association with a male is not restricted to the form of marriage alone, but also includes the relation of engenderer and engendered. Therefore, this is established: "The two sons born of a Vaiśyā and a Śūdrā from a Rājanya are remembered as a Māhiṣya and an Ugra."
