*Tasmin* is an imitation of a word ending in the locative. The word *nir* conveys immediacy. The root *diś* expresses the action of pronouncing. When it is stated, "*yaṇ* [occurs] before *ac*", an operation that was applicable whether an intervening element is present or absent is restricted to when an intervening element is absent; and what was applicable to both the preceding and the following is restricted to the preceding alone. But the statement "of that which is immediately preceding" is a statement of the resultant meaning.
