pūraba-desa Jaunapura gā̃u. basai Gomatī-tīra suṭhā̃u.
tahā̃ Gomatī ihi bidha bahai. jyaũ dekhī tyaũ kavi-jana kahai. //

caupāī / In the eastern country is the settlement of Jaunpur, situated in a pleasant site on the bank of the Gomatī; / there the Gomatī flows in such fashion as the poet describes, just as he saw it.
