phari baiṭhahĩ bahu karai upāi. mandā kaparā kachu na bikāi.
āvahi jāhi karahi ati kheda. nahi samujhai bhāvī kau bheda. //

Sitting on his floor-cloth, he tried many means; / but the cloth was slack—nothing sold.
He came and went, suffering great sorrow; / he did not comprehend the secret of destiny.
