tasmān nārhā vayaṃ hantuṃ dhārtarāṣṭrān sabāndhavān
svajanaṃ hi kathaṃ hatvā sukhinaḥ syāma mādhava
mhaṇoni mī heṃ na karīṃ |
iye saṃgrāmīṃ śastra na dharīṃ |
heṃ kiḍāḷa bahutīṃ parī |
disatase ||

Therefore I will not do this; / I will not take up weapons in this battle; / this appears to be defective / in many ways.
