maga dhanuṣya bāṇa sāṃḍile |
na dharata aśrupāta āle |
aiseṃ aikeṃ rāyā tetheṃ vartaleṃ |
saṃjayo mhaṇe ||

Then he cast down bow and arrows, / unable to restrain a flood of tears; / hear, O King, such was what happened there, / said Saṃjaya.
