Jñāneśvarī (commentary on the Bhagavadgītā) 9.31

9.31

kāya to bāhuliyāṃciyā kājā nācavī |
kīṃ āpuliye jāṇivecī kaḷā vāḍhavī |
mhaṇaūni āmhāṃ yā ṭhevāṭhevī |
kāya kāja ||

Does he make the puppets dance for their sake,
or does he display the art of his own skill?
Therefore, what need have we
for these pretenses?
