The hero's inquiry.
A verse of seven-foot long-meter teacher-verse [eḻucīrkkaḻineṭil āciriyaviruttam].
O lady resembling the fertile town of Aruṇai of Śaṅkara,
who dwells delightfully in the minds of his devotees!
O lightning-like woman walking restlessly,
bearing the arrogance of a tall elephant on earth!
Unaware that your slender waist is about to snap, could you not pause
and speak just one word to me now,
O maiden whose eyes wage diverse conflicts
with the swift arrows of the god of desire?
