Grieving on seeing the punnāka tree — kalittuṟai.
Did the lover from the mountain of Aruṇēcar, who dances, abandon you too, having set his affection on wealth,
so that you stand for a long time, with no one to rest in your shade, without leaves?
Even when gazed upon, you have branched out around, you have trembled, from the cool southern breeze
you have blossomed into a golden hue, O punnāka tree that is like my very body!
